Politicians and Sports - Cycling Most Popular, Do Sports Less Than Citizens, Most Active Parties
During the regional and the senatorial elections 2012, www.SportCentral.cz carried out a quick sociological survey about sporting preferences of Czech politicians. We asked more than 400 Czech lawmakers from among deputies, senators and regional politicians, and we compared their responses with those of 3,400 citizens from a similar survey.
The most popular sports of the Czech politicians are: 1st cycling, 2nd football, 3rd skiing. Ice hockey was missing from the Top Ten, which is otherwise the third most popular sport of the Czechs. The Czech politicians themselves like to go cycling (22.3 %) and to swim (9.5 %) the most. It also emerged that individual sports are preferred in TOP 09, team sports are favorite in ČSSD.
In addition, SportCentral.cz made a research, how often the Czech politicians do sports and how much they spend on it. "In average, a Czech politician does sports 2 times a week and spends 518,- CZK in sports venues a month. The Czech general public go in sports more often, 3 times a week, and spends 351,- CZK a month," says Roman Sterly, the founder of SportCentral.cz
And what would the Czech politicians like to try the most? This category was dominated by golf (37.3 %), followed by tennis (14.7 %), skydiving (8.7 %) and paragliding (7.3 %)
The results of the comparison between the politicians and the citizens are shown in the well-arranged infographics.
